SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 131

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DEVOTION

+ The analogy of the building of an interior temple, a temple of the heart, as a house for the Divine is a useful description of the work involved in creating the inner life, a living spiritual life.
-- Regina Sara Ryan in Praying Dangerously

+ I think this is a very illuminating and intriguing idea.  I think I can get devoted to building this “interior temple.”  I think I am building this temple and am enjoying it right now in many ways.

Many of the great cathedrals took decades and even centuries to build.  Many builders participated in building these exterior temples which many people now find so beautiful and useful.

The Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona is a great temple which has been under construction for decades and will be under construction for decades more.  But it is already beautiful and useful. The photo was taken inside that amazing building during our 2013 visit to Barcelona.  Breathtaking inside and out.  And so are you.

You are so beautiful and useful.  Keep building.

What kind of images and ideas come to mind as you build your interior temple?  Maybe you could share some images and ideas with your fellow builders (also known as Spiritual Explorers).

+ Spirituality & Practice offers many resources on the spiritual practice of Devotion.  You can explore even more with this link to “Devotion” on their search engine. You will find 2153 items as of 4/26/16.  And, of course, there is a Twelves Gallery of Memes on Devotion.  The Body also gets a lot of attention from S&P as you can see if you go to this link to “Body” on their search engine.
