SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 213

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF HEAVENLINESS

1 - May we be happy and healthy
2 – May we be grateful
3 – May we be transformed
4 – May we be loving and compassionate
5 – May we be mindful through our breathing
6 – May we be wise through meditation
7 – May we be in service to all

+ The contemporary mystic more often than not does not reside in a monastery. The new mystic's community is that of humanity itself ... /  As a contemporary mystic, you are measured by the quality of attitude you bring to all your tasks, by your capacity to be a model of generosity, and by challenging the fear that there is not enough to go around in this world ... Mystical service means modeling calm in chaos, kindness amid anger, forgiveness at all times, personal integrity - to live, in other words, mindful that every second offers a choice either to channel grace or to withhold it.
-- Caroline Myss in Entering the Castle
This was the OneSpirit Daily Inspiration on December 19, 2015.

+ The principle of compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions, calling us always to treat all others as we wish to be treated ourselves. Compassion impels us to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, to dethrone ourselves from the centre of our world and put another there, and to honour the inviolable sanctity of every single human being, treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity and respect.
-- First paragraph of The Charter for Compassion

+ “May we be Loving & Compassionate.  “May we be in Service to All.” We depend on how much we serve each other.  The emphasis on self-fulfillment in recent years has sometimes meant that the importance of service has been neglected.  It can’t be.  We must step up our efforts to be compassionate.  There is no such thing as Heavenliness without compassion and service.

As we continue to explore the practice of Heavenliness, we will explore Love, Compassion & Service for several posts.

+ To get inspired and illuminated by Ed Bastian, I invite you to set aside some time for these videos:
·         SevenSteps of InterSpiritual Meditation (11 minutes)
·         2 hour lecture & conversation
