SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 363

WE ARE EXPLORING THE HEAVENLY ATTRIBUTE OF FREEDOM

+ We are called to create and enjoy a realm of compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance for all.

+ The movement of grace in our lives toward freedom is a mystery. So we simply say “Thanks."
-- Anne Lamott

+ In our freedom, we discover so much as we live our lives.  We are free to do so.  And there is always more to discover and enjoy.  This is bliss.

Here’s more wisdom from Anne Lamott:

I think this is how we are supposed to be in the world -- present and in awe.

And we are free to be present and in awe right now, right here and forever. Yes, this is bliss.

+ The meme for this post is in the Spirituality & Practice 12s Gallery on Creativity.

+ I would love it if you offered a guest post.  And, I have work to do on the Abundancetrek Freedom page. Maybe you can help.  Send an email with the subject “Freedom” or “Heavenly Attributes” or “Guest Post” to John@abundancetrek.com.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 344

+ We are called to create and enjoy a realm of compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance for all.

+ There are three truths: my truth, your truth and the truth.
-- Chinese Proverb

+ The spirit of liberty is the spirit of not being too sure you are right.
-- Learned Hand

+ When souls meet each other, what truth they can exchange! It is uttered in silence, yet always surely reaches its goal. -- Hazrat Inayat Khan

+ It is extremely important to keep an open mind, to realize that truth is often elusive, mysterious, surprising, challenging and even disruptive. But the journey is worth it.  So many blessings come from living into the truth.

+ The meme comes from the Spirituality & Practice 12s Gallery on X-The Mystery.

+ I would love it if you offered a guest post.  And, I have work to do on the Abundancetrek Truth page. Maybe you can help.  Send an email with the subject “Truth” or “Heavenly Attributes” or “Guest Post” to John@abundancetrek.com.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 327

+ We are called to create and enjoy a realm of compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance for all.

+ Beauty breaks us open and connects us to the hearts of others, the soul of the world, deepens our connections with the places we live and dream about, the people we love, animals and plants, trees and rivers. Beauty opens the door to creativity and wisdom.

+ Beauty is the only answer to terror. But Beauty is only skin deep and illusory if it does not include all within its harmonies. All. Anything less than this is counterfeit Beauty, a thin and precarious facade that will eventually crumble.

+ All. In other words, everything God creates is beautiful and there is simply no excuse for seeing anything but beauty in every person and every creature.  Period.

Ruth Gendler is right: “Beauty opens the door to creativity and wisdom.” We definitely need it all of the time.  Fortunately, it is available to us at all times and places.  We simply need to know this and enjoy this and see all kinds of fantastic connections.  We are indeed:

Intimately
Intricately
Infinitely
Connected by a Matrix of
Unconditional
Unlimited
Uniting
Which is
Miraculous
Mysterious and
Marvelous

+ Spirituality & Practice offers plenty of resources on the spiritual practice of Beauty. Also, there is an S&P Twelves Gallery of memes on Beauty.

+ I would love it if you offered a guest post.  And, I have work to do on the Abundancetrek Beauty page.  Maybe you can help.  Send an email with the subject “Beauty” or “Heavenly Attributes” or “Guest Post” to John@abundancetrek.com.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 319

+ We are called to create and enjoy a realm of compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance for all.

+
Does not wisdom call,
and does not understanding raise her voice?
On the heights, beside the way,
at the crossroads she takes her stand;
beside the gates in front of the town,
at the entrance of the portals she cries out:
"To you, O people, I call,
and my cry is to all that live.
O simple ones, learn prudence;
acquire intelligence, you who lack it.
Hear, for I will speak noble things,
and from my lips will come what is right;
for my mouth will utter truth;
wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
All the words of my mouth are righteous;
there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.
They are all straight to one who understands
and right to those who find knowledge.
Take my instruction instead of silver,
and knowledge rather than choice gold;
for wisdom is better than jewels,
and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.
I, wisdom, live with prudence,
and I attain knowledge and discretion.
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil
and perverted speech I hate.
I have good advice and sound wisdom;
I have insight, I have strength.
By me kings reign,
and rulers decree what is just;
by me rulers rule,
and nobles, all who govern rightly.
I love those who love me,
and those who seek me diligently find me.
Riches and honor are with me,
enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold,
and my yield than choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness,
along the paths of justice,
endowing with wealth those who love me,
and filling their treasuries."
-- Proverbs 8:1-21

+ Wisdom is often equated with the Logos or the Word.  In Greek, wisdom is translated as Sophia.  Isn’t it great that wisdom in this passage and in other places is revealed as feminine? It makes sense, therefore, to address God as Mother as well as Father, as Sister as well as Brother, as Daughter as well as Son.  God transcends gender.  Wisdom transcends gender. Yes, wisdom is feminine … and masculine   … and more.  It is beyond our limited human understanding.  But it is not beyond the miraculous, mysterious and marvelous divine understanding.  This we can experience from time to time as we practice the 12 Spiritual Practices and grow in the heavenly attribute of wisdom.

We still have a long way to go to bring the feminine dimension to our understanding of the divine.  But we have made progress.  That’s a wise thing to do.  So many of the heavenly qualities pointed out in the  powerful text above are magnified when we bring our feminine sensibilities to them.

+ We are called to create and enjoy a realm of compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance for all.

+
If you could get rid
of yourself just once,
The secret of secrets
Would open to you.
The face of the unknown,
Hidden beyond the universe
Would appear on the
Mirror of your perception.
-- Rumi

+ Yes, that ego needs to be put in its place.  It has a role to play but not a huge role, not even a big role.  And there are times when we don’t need it at all.  That’s when we can experience  -- possibly, probably,  ever so briefly -- the miraculous, mysterious and marvelous reality of our essence, our oneness with everything.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 287

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF HEAVENLINESS

+ This is a post on the style of The Way of Relationships as we continue to explore Heavenliness through the lens of the 12 styles of the Mandala process created by Edward Bastian.  There is 1 more Mandala style to explore after this one: Wisdom. After that, we move on to the 9 Attributes of Heaven.

+ When you think of the people who have inspired you, changed your thinking, altered the course of your life, are they not the ones who spoke and lived from the heart? Are they not the ones who stand before you with the courage to be simply who they are, to share their visions, their struggles, their fears? This is the stuff of spiritual authority - this transparency, this risking, this willingness to say, “It's a new frontier here, and not one of us has a map, but with what we know together, we can surely make it.
-- Jan Phillips in Finding Ourselves on Sacred Ground

+ I think it is helpful to see our relationships as mysteries.  I am a mystery to you and you are a mystery to me.  None of us know all we need to know about another person or even ourselves for that matter.  So, relationships can get better and better as we seek to find new ground.  The familiar is good and even necessary.  But we gain so much more when we are open to the new.  This definitely takes courage and risk but it’s worth it.  This amazing journey we are on is always full of surprises, wonder, infinite possibilities.  Let us enjoy the familiar and the unfamiliar as keep walking in faith.

+ The 7 steps of InterSpiritual Meditation by Edward Bastian are listed in SE21 and SE213. They are described fully in his book, InterSpiritual Meditation

+ To get inspired and illuminated by Ed Bastian, I invite you to set aside some time for these videos:  Seven Steps of InterSpiritual Meditation (11 minutes) | 15 minute introduction to InterSpiritual Meditation and the Mandala Process | 2 hour lecture & conversation

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 216

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF HEAVENLINESS

+ What is indispensable is for us to recognize that this world is not self-evident. The visible is nothing more than a path to revealing the invisible — light serving to disclose the hidden light of light itself.

+ I always remember I have everything I need to enjoy my here and now unless I am letting my consciousness be dominated by demands and expectations based on the dead past or imagined future.
-- Kenneth Keyes
This is the fourth of his 12 Pathways to Higher Consciousness

+ We often experience life as a mystery.  Truth has a way of hiding.  This is true because we have a lot to learn.  We need to keep detecting the meaning of life and our purpose in it.  I don’t think I would want it any other way.  Let our lives unfold in the here and now without any “expectations based on the dead past or imagined future.”  So, let’s embrace the mystery of life as a gift as we continue to explore these heavenly realms.  They are not hidden forever.  We can and will find more and more truth, meaning and purpose.

+ Spirituality & Practice emphasizes the practices of Love & Compassion:

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 215

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF HEAVENLINESS

+ There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe. The horizontal threads are in space. The vertical threads are in time. At every crossing of the threads, there is an individual, and every individual is a crystal bead. And every crystal bead reflects not only the light from every other crystal in the net, but also every other reflection throughout the entire universe.
-- Rig Veda
This was the Gratefulness Word for the Day on June 21, 2016.

+ Although we seem to be different individuals inhabiting separate bodies, we are intimately connected with each other at some level of the mind. This image has surfaced consistently throughout human history. It permeates the language of poets, artists, and mystics, and has been repeatedly understood by spiritual adepts in all great religious traditions.
-- Larry Dossey

+ Are you ready for my credo one more time.  I hope so because I am.

We are
Intimately,
Intricately,
Infinitely
Connected
In a Matrix of
Unconditional
Unlimited
Uniting
Love
Which is
Miraculous,
Mysterious and
Marvelous

Maybe I am seeing through rose colored glasses as I share this again.  Or, maybe this is the way things really are.  What do you think?  The quotes above, and the great John Lennon song: "Imagine," suggest that I am not the only one who thinks like this.  Imagine it and make it so.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 212

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF HEAVENLINESS

+ If I penetrate to the depths of my own existence to the indefinable AM that is myself in its deepest roots, then through this deep center I pass into the infinite I AM which is the very Name of the Almighty.
-- Thomas Merton
+ OK, I will say it again (but with I AM this time):

I AM intimately, intricately, infinitely connected in a matrix of unconditional, unlimited, uniting LOVE which is miraculous, mysterious and marvelous.

And so are you.  And again:  You are wonderful, fantastic, amazing, delightful, heavenly.

For more I AM statements from many traditions, go to Peter Russell’s THE CHURCH OF I AM.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS -- 85

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ Then there is the listening at the gates of the heart which has been closed for so long, and waiting for that mysterious inner voice to speak. When we hear it, we know it is the truth to which we must now surrender our lives.
-- Beth Ferris quoted in Finding What You Didn't Lose by John Fox

+ Do you hear it? I suspect you do because you are reading this post.  I suspect you are well on your way in the process of surrendering to the power of love.  Love prevails.  Love is at the heart of the universe.  We are all connected by this powerful force, this matrix of unconditional, unlimited love.  Be still and know.  You can trust the process.  You will know what to do next and next and next as you let go and let God.  Deep within you, you already know what to do.  You know who you are.  Your wisdom and compassion are growing.  Your words and deeds are making a difference.  You ARE the light of the world. Shine brightly.  The light has always been there.

THE AMAZING JOURNEY page 3

PAGE 3

Something wonderful is happening. Right now. At this time. At all times. All the time. Paying attention to what’s happening right now will reveal miracle after miracle.  This is the realm we want to discover, explore, know, enjoy. Let’s go. OK?

Good! Great! Fantastic! Wonderful!

If we are in a realm of miracles, we are also in a realm of mysteries.  This realm is marvelous, but also risky, even dangerous. Make sure you have support from trusted friends, colleagues, guides, teachers as you travel through this marvelous realm.  It is fantastic. It is wonderful. But there are unexpected hazards or expected hazards here. Be careful. Be prepared. PRAY! Yes, pray. There are many ways to pray and I am not about to tell you which way is best for you.  I will share some of my ideas about prayer here.  Maybe you will benefit from them.  I believe praying is as natural as breathing so we are praying whether we know it or not.  God is always with us.  Actually it’s more than that: WE ARE PART OF GOD. We are intimately, intricately, infinitely connected to the source, to the Creative Energy, to the Mind and Heart of God who is Love, unconditional, unlimited, uniting LOVE. You need to know this. You need to experience this. You must enter this realm of Love because it is pervasive.  It is everywhere.  The more we know God, the more we can avoid the unexpected or expected hazards here.  They are not really here but it sure does feel like they are here, there and everywhere we go. So, be careful, be prepared. Pray. Trust your companions who are also praying, especially those companions you have reason to believe know how to pray.  This is really important.  Fortunately, these companions who can be trusted are here, there, and everywhere.  Take a  moment, take as long as you need, to think about your companions on this amazing journey. OK?

Good! Great! Fantastic! Wonderful!

It really is wonderful.  It really is fantastic. WOW! I am awake, aware, connected.  I am amazed, delighted, glad all over. Awe. Wonder. Beauty. Right here. Right now. WOW. Breathe deeply. Breathe fully. Be still. Be silent. Be centered. Be grounded. Gaze, like Moses, at the Burning Bush. You may have to use your imagination. You are in a holy place. You are the unquenchable fire, the eternal flame. You are the Light of the World, of the Universe, of Heaven. Lighten up. Loosen up. Let go. Let God.
