SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 283

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF HEAVENLINESS

+ This is a post on the style of The Way of Relationships as we continue to explore Heavenliness through the lens of the 12 styles of the Mandala process created by Edward Bastian.  There is 1 more Mandala style to explore after this one: Wisdom. After that, we move on to the 9 Attributes of Heaven.

+ It is through relationships that we are able to learn how virtuous and non-virtuous intentions can affect our relative states of happiness and well-being. By experiencing joy, grief, love and jealousy—and by the dispassionate observation of these emotions—we recognize the intentions that produce lasting happiness, and those that produce sorrow.
-- Edward Bastian in the chapter on the Spiritual Style of Relationships in Mandala: Creating An Authentic Spiritual Path: An InterSpiritual Process

+ If your spiritual practices are not helping you become more loving in your relationships, then something needs to change.  It is always necessary to practice discernment  which we have explored before (SE posts 81-96) so we can become aware of what needs to change in ourselves as we make contact with others. We can find a lot of joy in solitude but it often is based on previous relationships and probably can only be sustained by the support and encouragement we get from our current and future relationships.

+ The 7 steps of InterSpiritual Meditation by Edward Bastian are listed in SE21 and SE213. They are described fully in his book, InterSpiritual Meditation

+ To get inspired and illuminated by Ed Bastian, I invite you to set aside some time for these videos:  Seven Steps of InterSpiritual Meditation (11 minutes) | 15 minute introduction to InterSpiritual Meditation and the Mandala Process | 2 hour lecture & conversation

+ Spirituality & Practice offers abundant resources on the practices of Love & Compassion: The Practice of Love | The 12s Gallery on Love | The Practice of Compassion | The 12s Gallery on Compassion

+ I would love it if you offered a guest post on this practice or any practice.  And, I have work to do on my Heavenliness page.  Maybe you can help.  Send an email with the subject “Heavenliness” or “Love” or “Guest Post” to John@abundancetrek.com.

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF HEAVENLINESS

+ Although we seem to be different individuals inhabiting separate bodies, we are intimately connected with each other at some level of the mind. This image has surfaced consistently throughout human history. It permeates the language of poets, artists, and mystics, and has been repeatedly understood by spiritual adepts in all great religious traditions.
-- Larry Dossey

+ Let us awaken to the glorious, heavenly reality that, right now, right here, we are intimately, intricately, infinitely connected in a matrix of unconditional, unlimited, uniting LOVE which is miraculous, mysterious and marvelous.  This can only happen as we practice, practice, practice the Journey of the Mind practices of Stillness, Detachment & Humility; the Journey of the Heart practices of Silence, Discernment & Healing; the Journey of the Body practices of Solitude, Devotion & Holiness; and, the Journey of the Soul practices of Simplicity, Delight and Heavenliness.

+ Spirituality & Practice offers plenty of resources on the Practice of Connections. It is one of the 37 practices Frederic & Mary Ann Brussat feature at their amazing website, the best website in the universe. There is also a 12s Gallery on Connections. The meme here comes from that gallery.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 128

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DEVOTION

+ Devotion means prayer and lots of it and in many forms. You need to find a way of praying that works for you. Your devotion helps others the most when it is helping you become more holy, more authentic, more compassionate. Don’t be deceived or misled by people who want you to pray their way. What works for them may not work for you. We live in a time when it makes sense to search for a path which is most meaningful and joyful for you.

For many of us this means renewing our commitment to the path of our ancestors. For me, this is the path of Christ. For many of you, this is the path of Christ. But this path is not for everyone and that’s OK. Too many Christians have believed that their path is the only way to be saved. It is a powerful way but there are others.

I subscribe fully to the motto of my particular tradition: “Reformed and always being reformed.”  Following Christ means being open to change, to “doing a new thing,” to experimenting and even expanding to include rituals and practices from the other wisdom traditions and creating new rituals and practices. Blending the old and the new, the comfortable and the uncomfortable. It’s all about making your traditions work in a world where we now know so many other great traditions.

So, my devotion includes practices not associated with the path of Christ in the past. I am even willing to reject certain Christian practices as my discernment and the discernment of others finds fault in some practices. If the common good of all humanity and all creation is not promoted, I cannot and will not participate in that kind of exclusion and insensitivity.

This means I am devoted to the path of Christ which is radically open to embracing other paths. I call this The New Faith for the New Earth. I believe that this is the “new thing” God is doing now. This is the path for me and for many. We are creating something new now. I believe that The New Faith for the New Earth is essential because the old faith for the old earth is leading us to destruction. We must devote ourselves to the New Faith even as we remain devoted to many traditional practices. This is daunting and exciting. Are you with me?

+ Spirituality & Practice offers many resources on the spiritual practice of Devotion.  You can explore even more with this link to “Devotion” on their search engine. You will find 2153 items as of 4/26/16.  And, of course, there is a Twelves Gallery of Memes on Devotion.  The Body also gets a lot of attention from S&P as you can see if you go to this link to “Body” on their search engine. You will find 1611 items as of 4/26/16.

+ I would love it if you offered a guest post on this practice or any practice.  And, I have work to do on my Devotion page.   Maybe you can help.  Send an email with the subject “Devotion” or “Guest Post” to John@abundancetrek.com.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS -- 96

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ If you do not express your own original ideas, if you do not listen to your own being, you will have betrayed yourself.
-- Rollo May in The Courage to Create

+ I didn’t know I would come up with 16 Spiritual Explorations posts on the practice of Discernment when I began contemplating this series of posts.  But I did and this is the final one.  Healing comes next.

So, here is my concluding thought for now.  You may soon find more on the Discernment page which I have been working on and plan to revise some more and expand.

My discernment and the discernment of many very wise and discerning people is that we definitely need to create a new faith for a new earth.  This does not mean that anyone needs to stop being a Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, a Hindu, a Buddhist, a Wicca, a (fill in the blank) or even an agnostic or atheist.  But we do need to come together often, very often, to share our ideas and practices which create more compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance.   We are evolving toward this rapidly now.  This is Good News.

I believe The Charter for Compassion and the movement it has created is an essential part of this “new thing” God is doing now.  I urge you to read it, sign it, share it, promote it, make it happen.  Here it is:

The principle of compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions, calling us always to treat all others as we wish to be treated ourselves. Compassion impels us to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, to dethrone ourselves from the centre of our world and put another there, and to honour the inviolable sanctity of every single human being, treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity and respect.

It is also necessary in both public and private life to refrain consistently and empathically from inflicting pain. To act or speak violently out of spite, chauvinism, or self-interest, to impoverish, exploit or deny basic rights to anybody, and to incite hatred by denigrating others—even our enemies—is a denial of our common humanity. We acknowledge that we have failed to live compassionately and that some have even increased the sum of human misery in the name of religion.

We therefore call upon all men and women to restore compassion to the centre of morality and religion ~ to return to the ancient principle that any interpretation of scripture that breeds violence, hatred or disdain is illegitimate ~ to ensure that youth are given accurate and respectful information about other traditions, religions and cultures ~ to encourage a positive appreciation of cultural and religious diversity ~ to cultivate an informed empathy with the suffering of all human beings—even those regarded as enemies.

We urgently need to make compassion a clear, luminous and dynamic force in our polarized world. Rooted in a principled determination to transcend selfishness, compassion can break down political, dogmatic, ideological and religious boundaries. Born of our deep interdependence, compassion is essential to human relationships and to a fulfilled humanity. It is the path to enlightenment, and indispensable to the creation of a just economy and a peaceful global community.

For many years Spirituality & Practice has been a major influence in my life contributing greatly to my discernment of this “new thing” God is doing.  More recently I have participated actively in the development of InterSpirituality under the guidance of Dr. Edward W. Bastian of Spiritual Paths.  He has created a powerful  seven step InterSpiritual Meditation  which can bring people of all wisdom traditions together since compassion is a universal goal.  He also offers a unique approach to the Discernment process moving from inquiry to insight and then on to integration. He has written two books which offer wise and comprehensive guidance on the process:  InterSpiritual Meditation and Mandala: Creating an Authentic Spiritual Path. To repeat what I said above ... we do need to come together often, very often, to share our ideas and practices which create more compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance ... and Ed offers an effective approach for this to happen based on years of experience and research working with some very wise teachers including Cynthia Bourgeault, Father Thomas Keating, Sheikha Kabir Helminski, Swami Atmarupananda and Rabbi Rami Shapiro.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 95

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ To base a religious philosophy on questions instead of answers increases the likelihood of wonder and amazement.
-- Lawrence Kushner

+ Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.
-- Rainer Maria Rilke

+ What is required of us is that we love the difficult and learn to deal with it. In the difficult are the friendly forces, the hands that work on us. Right in the difficult we must have our joys, our happiness, our dreams: there against the depth of this background, they stand out, there for the first time we see how beautiful they are.
-- Rainer Maria Rilke

+ Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.
-- Rumi

+ Making a Vision Quest is a Native American tradition which has inspired many of us in recent decades.  Elders teach their adolescents that such a quest is a necessary passage into adulthood.  This wisely teaches adolescents to find answers within themselves even though this may be much more difficult than getting answers from others.

Perhaps all of life can be viewed as a Vision Quest since we always have plenty more to learn and many changes to go through on this amazing journey.  Isn’t it wonderful?

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold if we will just have the courage to admit what it is. And the faith to trust our own admission. The admitting is often very difficult.
-- Julia Cameron

+ The transition from being an admirer of Jesus to an imitator of Jesus, from living primarily for self aggrandizement to living for aggrandizement of the Lord, from doing the works of the Lord to working for the Lord, from being inspired by personal desires to being guided by the Spirit, is indeed a very frightening transition. It is a movement from what is known and clearly defined to what is unknown and not clearly defined. The Law of the Commandants can be seen and clearly defined. The Law of the Spirit cannot.
-- found on the La Ermita website in 2007 (I think).  I can’t find the quote in 2016 but the website is excellent.

+ Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
– Howard Thurman

+ “Difficult.” “Frightening.” Are you sure you want to go on with this?  Yes, of course you do because you know the alternative is even worse, far worse.   And you want to “come alive.” The goal of discernment is transformation to our greatest potential so that we can be effective reconcilers, healers, teachers, guides, companions, friends, mentors.  Our planet needs us to be passionately and joyfully involved in the creation of heaven on earth, the glorious realm of abundance, joy, wisdom, beauty, love, truth, peace, justice and freedom.  Make it so.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 93

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ To realize one's destiny is a person's only obligation.
 -- Paulo Coelho

He’s right, you know.  This is why developing an effective Discernment practice is so important.  This realization does not come instantly to most of us.  Nor can anyone describe their destiny in words.  I think Soren Kierkegaard  got it right saying: “Life must be lived forwards but can only be understood backwards.”  In other words, we live our lives never fully understanding our purpose but discerning pieces of it day by day.  Albert Einstein sensed this when he said: “My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.”  Imagine that.  This genius talking about our “frail and feeble mind.”

In The Merging of Spirit and Science, he put the same sentiment in this way: “To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling, is at the center of true religion.”

So, explorers, keep exploring, keep practicing, keep being “present and in awe” as you fulfill your destiny, your only obligation.  Our faculties may be dull .. relatively .. but we can still perceive a lot, discern a lot, be transformed into the person of our highest ideals, our greatest potential, our destiny.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 92

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart." Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks desire wisdom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength. Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, so that no one might boast in the presence of God. He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, in order that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 NRSV. This is the Epistle Reading for Tuesday of Holy Week.

+ This is one of my favorite scripture readings.  It puts things in perspective.  Discernment comes readily to those who are simple and weak and lowly.  Those who think they know, don’t know.  Those who think they don’t know, know.  That’s because we are connected to the source in mysterious ways, elusive, beyond reason.  You can trust your Inner Guide but only after you have found ways to get your ego out of the picture.  Keep practicing.

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT
+ There are so many paths open to us, but which one should we take? How do you discern which path is right for you?
-- Naomi Kelly in the Weaving Home post for 3/21/16

+ Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.
-- Louisa May Alcott

+ The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.
-- Joseph Campbell

+ You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.
-- Albert Einstein

+ Not to decide is to decide.
-- Harvey Cox

+ Satan is yesterday’s will of God.
-- Walter Wink

+ It just may be that the path you have found illuminating and inspiring and encouraging in the past is not the one which will work now and in the future.  God is always “doing a new thing.”  The planet needs us to discern what this new thing is and act on it.  Choose the path which leads you to new awareness and commitment even though it may be risky and challenging.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 90

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. When people really listen to each other in a quiet, fascinated attention, the creative fountain inside each of us begins to spring and cast up new thoughts and unexpected wisdom.
— Brenda Ueland quoted in Finding What You Didn't Lose by John Fox

+ Way back in 1971, humorist Erma Bombeck wrote that it seems "rather incongruous that in a society of supersophisticated communication, we often suffer from a shortage of listeners." She was not only perceptive but prophetic.

This week, help reverse the trend. Look for a way each day to listen to someone, letting go of any other agenda. Remember all the tools at your disposal: concentrated silence, a nod, simple words of support like "um hmm" or "oh?" or "wow!" Reflect back what you hear the other person saying, so that they can hear themselves more clearly. Ask follow-up questions like "How come?" or "What happened then?" Offer gentle encouragement to someone by your unconditionally accepting presence. It's okay if that someone is yourself.
-- Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat

+ Discernment happens more and more frequently and authentically as we develop the ability to really listen to others.  Instead of thinking of what you are going to say next, how about saying nothing or asking a question (preferably open-ended) or offer a statement which shows you understand or are trying to understand.  Be fascinated by each and every person  you meet, by every event and even every thought and feeling.  Try to think outside of the box.  See things in new and different ways.  Trust the process.  Let go of any need to control situations in your life.  You usually don’t have to and you benefit by letting go.  This is the process of creativity which produces more and more compassion, peace, justice and sustainable abundance.

It is important to realize that much of the significant discernment in our lives happens in groups where people share experiences, ideas and wisdom.  Group discernment is as important as individual discernment.

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ Meditation is supreme among all these tested means for personal change. Nothing is so direct, so potent, so sure for releasing the divinity within us. Meditation enables us to see the lineaments of our true self and to chip away the stubbornly selfish tendencies that keep it locked within, quite, quite forgotten.
-- Eknath Easwaran in God Makes the Rivers to Flow: Sacred Literature of the World

Discernment depends on a continuing commitment to the practices we are exploring which can all be viewed as Meditation or Prayer or Contemplation.  We all need to find ways to “chip away the stubbornly selfish tendencies” which keep us separated from our Heavenly Self which is intimately, intricately, infinitely connected by a matrix of unconditional, unlimited, uniting Love which is miraculous, mysterious and marvelous.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 88

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ Your visible image shows your inner truth, so when you're estimating others, what you see is what you get. It therefore becomes critically important to see generously, or you will get only what you see; to see sharply, so that you discern the mix of traits rather than a generalized lump; and to see deeply into dark shadows, or else you will be deceived.
-- James Hillman in The Soul's Code

+ Healing happens when we achieve a level of discernment which gets beyond all the deceptions, prejudices, opinions and judgments which many of us have in abundance.  The truth will set you free.  The truth will make you whole.  The truth will make you heavenly.

We need to transform our vision of reality so that we can see the truth and not illusions.  This takes plenty of stillness, detachment and humility, the Mind practices we explored in SE posts 1 through 64. Now we are exploring Heart practices so that compassion prevails and makes all things new.

+ Spirituality & Practice offers many resources on the practice of discernment including the quote above.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS – 87

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ Genesis has been one of the sacred books that have enabled millions of men and women to know at some profound level that human life has an eternal dimension, even though they have not always been able to express this insight in logical, rational form. Like any scripture, Genesis points to a reality that must essentially transcend it. But the writers employ different methods from those of the Hindu Vedas or the Buddhist Sutras. The biblical authors force us to make an imaginative effort. They imply that it is a hard struggle to discern a sacred reality in the flawed and tragic conditions in which we live and that our experience will often be disconcerting or contradictory. Like Jacob, we will have to wrestle in the dark, denied the consolations of final certitude and experiencing at best only transient, elusive blessing. We may even find that we have been wounded in the course of our struggle.
-- Karen Armstrong in In the Beginning

+ The holy work of discernment is often complicated, confusing, elusive, even painful.  Courage and determination and patience are needed.  Your discernment process might be working great one day and may seem totally off the mark the next day.  Just keep working on these essential spiritual practices even if it is perplexing and wounding from time to time.  The Mind goal of Humility, the Heart goal of Healing, the Body goal of Holiness and the Soul goal of Heavenliness are worth the struggle.

+ Karen Armstrong is one of my heroes.  She has written A History of God and other important books promoting awareness and appreciation of the world’s wisdom traditions.  She spearheaded the movement which gave us The Charter for Compassion.  Spirituality & Practice includes Karen Armstrong in their Living Spiritual Teachers Project where you can find quotes, book reviews, book excerpts, articles and interviews.

Spirituality & Practice offers many resources on the practice of discernment.  This includes the quote above.

+ In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.
-- Mohandas Gandhi

+ This quote was in SE74 and I repeat it here because the connection of the practice of silence to the practice of discernment is so vital.  And who better than Gandhi to point that out.  The discernment process is the way to truth which is an essential characteristic of heaven and must be implemented here on earth if we are to enjoy the abundance, the beauty, the love which is promised to all of us.

+ Then there is the listening at the gates of the heart which has been closed for so long, and waiting for that mysterious inner voice to speak. When we hear it, we know it is the truth to which we must now surrender our lives.
-- Beth Ferris quoted in Finding What You Didn't Lose by John Fox

+ Do you hear it? I suspect you do because you are reading this post.  I suspect you are well on your way in the process of surrendering to the power of love.  Love prevails.  Love is at the heart of the universe.  We are all connected by this powerful force, this matrix of unconditional, unlimited love.  Be still and know.  You can trust the process.  You will know what to do next and next and next as you let go and let God.  Deep within you, you already know what to do.  You know who you are.  Your wisdom and compassion are growing.  Your words and deeds are making a difference.  You ARE the light of the world. Shine brightly.  The light has always been there.

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ To be nobody-but-yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.
-- E. E. Cummings

+ Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
-- Howard Thurman

+ Be who you really are. The world wants you to believe that you are somebody like everybody else. You are not somebody else. You are you and God wants you to be who you really are.

As Paul said: “Do not be conformed to this world” (Romans 12:2).  God does not want you to adapt to the ways of the world. God does not want you to be who others think you should be or to do what others think you should do.

So let us discern who we really are and what we can accomplish beyond any previous, limited expectations.  It’s OK to be different, to be fully alive and courageous in the quest to become an authentic heavenly being.  Human, of course, but divine as well.  Our true identity is heavenly even more than it is human.  We are definitely made in the likeness of God.

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ The spirit of liberty is the spirit of not being too sure you are right.
-- Learned Hand

+ Discernment requires the kind of openness and humility Learned Hand wisely insists upon if we are to achieve true freedom for ourselves and for the greater community.  Let go of opinions, even cherished ones.  You may come back to them but be open to new revelations, new insights, new ideas and new visions.  Be flexible.  Expand your horizons.  Grow and change.

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ I think this is how we are supposed to be in the world -- present and in awe.
-- Anne Lamott

+ Discernment happens when our attitude is gratitude, when we realize how wonderful life is, how precious, how beautiful, how awesome, how amazing.  Now that we know are practicing stillness, detachment, humility and silence, we can discern our purpose, our mission, our next step.  These precious moments of discernment are crucial in the journey of the heart and its main purpose: Healing
What is your unique purpose, the mission you called to accomplish, your next step?  What is your intention for today on this journey?  I do not ask these questions to burden you.  I ask these questions only to make your life awesome.  When you are in the zone of your life purpose, your calling, your mission, you are awesome and you become one with all of creation.

+ Spirituality & Practice offers many resources on the practice of discernment.

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT

+ I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual* worship.  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
-- Romans 12:1-2

+ We are striving for perfection, for wholeness, for holiness, for heavenliness.  In order to become more whole, we need to know what to do next, and next after that, and next after that.  Immersion in the world keeps us from perceiving and achieving this heavenly state of being.  The world is wonderful but it is not everything.  The wise figure this out and let go of all kinds of worldly ambitions, desires, enchantments and illusions.  This is done on a daily basis, even breath after breath.  Heaven is here now but we don’t know it unless we can discern it.  We can never grasp it but we can let it grasp us.  We each have gifts heaven has given us to unwrap and share freely.  In order to know our gifts a discernment process is essential.

As we continue to practice stillness, detachment, humility and silence, the discernment process unfolds naturally.  We become more authentic, more compassionate, more perceptive, more integrated, more heavenly.  This is a promise.

SPIRITUAL EXPLORATIONS -- 80

WE ARE EXPLORING THE PRACTICE OF SILENCE

We live in the noise, and we are so busy all the time, there is no time, no space, no silence for the heart.
-- Isabel Allende

+ This is such essential wisdom as we continue on this Journey of the Heart moving from Silence to Discernment to Healing.  We have explored the Mind practices moving from Stillness to Detachment to Humility. With practice, practice, practice and more practice, we become holy and even heavenly.  Our citizenship is not of the earth but of heaven.  Let’s now move on and explore the amazing spiritual practice of Discernment.  We can do this now that we are committed to practicing Stillness and Silence on a regular basis.  Are you?  Am I?  Let’s continue to make this our intention.  It is so fantastic, so wonderful, when we can still our mind and quiet our heart.

Breathe deeply. Breathe fully.
Be still. Be silent.
Be centered. Be grounded.
Loosen up.  Lighten up.
Let go. Let God.
Celebrate. Enjoy.
Be glad all over.
